In 1980s college student slang, it somehow, and sadly, acquired a distinct sense of "inferior, undesirable." (Online Etymology Dictionary, Douglas Harper) Well, okay, fine, Mr. Online Etymology Dictionary person, but THIS is the 21st Century. It's a whole new ball of wax.

A Silver anniversary

26 years ago today our 4th kid and only boy, Silver Peregrine Gerety, made his appearance in this world. I got my first glimpse of his sweet face in the big old tilt-style mirror at the foot of the vintage brass bed in which he was born, in Ashland, Oregon. (For all of you detail oriented readers out there, a brass bed works fabulously when in labor. Simply grab the rungs and PUSH!)
Anyway, we love you, Silv!
