random means "having no definite aim or purpose," (1655), taken from "at random" (1565), "at great speed" (thus, "carelessly, haphazardly"). In 1980s college student slang, it somehow, and sadly, acquired a distinct sense of "inferior, undesirable." (Online Etymology Dictionary, Douglas Harper) Well, okay, fine, Mr. Online Etymology Dictionary person, but THIS is the 21st Century. It's a whole new ball of wax.

Heres whats beautiful! When I worked at the psychiatric hospital we use to throw these huge hallowe'en bashes. One year I went as Pochahantas with my two long braids and my buckskin fringe shirt. When the kids asked me who I was and I told them Pochahantas, not One kid in all 60 or so said "You can't do that because she's a girl." Just about EVERY adult made some comment about my cross dressing or gender specification! Aren't kids Cool?!! Love Jofish
P.S. Sorry I don't spell so swell
:( Jfish
