ragtags studio central: sarah's random this & that

random means "having no definite aim or purpose," (1655), taken from "at random" (1565), "at great speed" (thus, "carelessly, haphazardly"). In 1980s college student slang, it somehow, and sadly, acquired a distinct sense of "inferior, undesirable." (Online Etymology Dictionary, Douglas Harper) Well, okay, fine, Mr. Online Etymology Dictionary person, but THIS is the 21st Century. It's a whole new ball of wax.

In the good ol' summertime, some things are FREE!

Calloo, callay! It's your lucky day! The two little rural kids in the galvanized tin (3rd pic down) are "Larry's half sisters".  The pic of the little sisters splashing in the waves (4th down from the top) was shot in August 1920. The studio portrait with the sketched lighthouse in the background (the second pic) is one of my husband's grandmas (she's the pretty one on the right), and a great-auntie. That's all I know! Except, if you click on any of the images, you should be able to download a nice big image you can copy and use in your own collaged pieces. I'll post some more grist for your art mill on Facebook in a few hours. Until then: Have fun! Stay cool, and if like me, you are crazy about watching the skies, don't forget to check out the Perseids for the next few nights...
