Lips, Dishtowels, DVDs
An entire month! How could I let so much time fly by without posting some little something? Ahh, the old "best laid plans" scenario. . .
Yesterday - "Tradition" Sunday - the little boys stayed with Colin while, September, Corina & I ventured out to do something we RARELY, but not never, do. We went to The Mall. We had a specific reason - well, actually, two. September needed Mango Body Butter from The Body Shop & I had a coupon for free panties from V. . .'s Secret.
We made a pact we would only go to those two places, as The Mall can be a kind of depressing place. But then Corina wanted to pick a place, too, bringing us to 3; hers was Orange Julius in the Food Court. While the two sisters went there, I waited in the, well, I don't know what it's called - the part of the mall where you walk, is that the hall? the lobby? anyway - it turned out there was the last day of a University Women used book sale. It was a short wait for the girls, just long enough to find Books Two, Four & Eight of the 1950 edition of Art For Living, a paperback series of elementary school "art" textbooks. Paid $1.50 for the three - not the best bargain ever, but a good one nonetheless. Will upload some of the art in my next post.
Turned out my panties coupon starts tomorrow, so that stop didn't take long. The Body Shop was more time-consuming, smelling luscious & with such artful displays. And I came to a realization while there.
Most of you who know me well know I am not exactly your spare & sparse Zen type girl.
I often find "more is more" to be MORE representative of my personality, decorating & art styles than "less is more". But there are only a few things I find almost TOTALLY IRRESISTABLE! DVDs, fresh new graphic dishtowels, & last but certainly NEVER least, Lip Gloss of all sorts, in pots, in tubes, in cunning little jars. Who could ever have enough, let alone, too many?
I thought I would about have an attack if I didn't get some new. BUT, & here's where my revelation comes in, I decided to see if I could be equally satisfied getting lip gloss for someone else. So I told the girls I would get each of THEM whatever one they picked. Said & done. And you know what, it was swell. It was great! Watching them apply their shiny, good-smelling new glosses that will protect them from chapping & UV rays & make their lips look pretty & pink was a pleasure. But not as good as if I had come home with a brand new lip gloss just for me.
